Preserving the Legacy
The fabrics of Shepherd & King are more than mere window dressings; they are heirlooms.
Every thread in our atelier is chosen for its structural integrity and aesthetic soul. Like a fine instrument or a bespoke garment, our textiles respond to their environment and the care they receive.
We believe that proper maintenance is an act of stewardship. By following our curated guides, you ensure that the vibrancy of our silks and the depth of our velvets remain unchanged for generations to come.
Royal Silks
Naturally delicate and sensitive to the elements, our silk requires a gentle touch and protection from the harshness of direct light.
- Professional Dry Clean Only
- Avoid Direct Sunlight Exposure
- Gentle Vertical Steaming Only
Velvet Classics
The pile of a velvet curtain is its heartbeat. To maintain its depth and prevent crushing, regular gentle agitation is necessary.
Maintenance Tip:
"Brush upwards with a soft bristle brush to restore the natural pile."
Ethereal Sheers
Lightweight and translucent, our sheers are designed to capture the wind. To keep them floating effortlessly, they require specific laundering techniques that preserve their weightless quality.
Washing
Hand wash in cool water or utilize the most delicate machine cycle with a pH-neutral detergent.
Drying
Hang while still damp to allow gravity to pull out any minor wrinkles naturally.
The Gold Standard of Care
For our most discerning clients, Shepherd & King offers an exclusive, white-glove maintenance service. From seasonal steaming to specialized cleaning, our atelier specialists will visit your estate to ensure your textiles remain in pristine condition.

Frequently Asked
How often should I clean my curtains?
We recommend a professional cleaning every 2-3 years for Silk and Velvet, while Sheers may benefit from an annual refresh to remove dust buildup.
Can I iron my Silk curtains?
We strictly advise against direct ironing. The high heat can scorch the delicate protein fibers. Vertical steaming is the only recommended method for removing creases.
How do I prevent fading?
Using high-quality linings is the best defense. We offer specialized UV-resistant interlining for all our bespoke commissions to protect the face fabric from sunlight damage.
